There will be an evening of talks from experts in Palaeomedia on the 17th June 2024. The event will be hosted in the iconic Wills Memorial Building. Conference attendees, University of Bristol students and the general public are all welcome at this event. This event will come with a small charge however conference delegates are invited for free. Speakers are still being confirmed and once we have a line-up we will reveal the speakers on our social media and the ProgPal website.
Workshops
At this year's ProgPal we are offering conference delegates the choice of three exciting workshops which will take place on day one of the conference. Delegates will only have the option to sign up for one workshop due to these running concurrently and certain workshops have limited numbers. Two workshops have been confirmed and are detailed below and the 3rd will be announced soon.
‘How to Avizo’: Representatives from ThermoFisher will be running a tutorial in our tomography lab talking about all things Avizo. You will have the opportunity to learn how to use Avizo and get the chance to play around with the software. This workshop is capped to 24 spaces so if you would like to take part in this then please sign up at registration as spaces will go quickly.
Behind the scenes Bristol Museum and Art Gallery tour: This tour of the Bristol Museum and art gallery will give you an insight into the collections we hold and is hosted by museum staff who can answer any and all questions you may have. Please take a look at the museum website for a peek at what is to come on this tour. This workshop is capped to 20 spaces so if you would like to take part in this then please sign up at registration as spaces will go quickly.
Icebreakers: We will be holding an icebreaker event on the evening of Day 1 in the Life Sciences Building skylounge with a view over the city of Bristol. This is a great opportunity for delegates to network and socialise in a relaxed environment. Beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, will be provided along with snacks and a team quiz.
Annual Dinner: The annual dinner will take place on the evening of Day 2 at The Mall in Clifton Village. The Mall is a Restaurant and Bar in the friendly neighbourhood of Clifton Village. The dinner this year will have a set menu which will be made available closer to the time when we will take your orders. If you have any dietary requirements we can ensure that the restaurant will cater to those.
Auction and Awards: We will be holding an auction and presenting awards for best poster and best talk at the end of the final talk session before we head to the annual dinner. More info to come soon!
